I've always known my style...... or should I say styleS!
In my younger years I was always the "first". First to wear short skirts and heels in high school. First to wear bell bottoms and midriff bearing tops. First to embrace the punk style of the 80's. First to get engaged and first to marry. (Ok, probably not first to be divorced, but I HAVE been quite happily married to my second husband for almost 24 years!!) As I've said, I know my style(S). But just because I know my style doesn't mean I can't change it up!
I was voted "most sophisticated" in high school.......... AND "skinniest legs", lol. When I was 15, I could order a drink in NYC (where the drinking age then was 21) without being carded. Now, at 65, I can pass for early 50's if the light is forgiving! I've never bought into the "dressing your age" thing. If I feel good in what I'm wearing, no one can convince me I don't look good!
I've gone from mod sophisticate to punk princess to boho babe......... and along the way, I've come to realize I'm a cross between all three. I live in leather leggings and minimally styled tops. In kaftans or peasant tops with jeans. My black leather Moto jacket is a constant companion to all. I love to mix it up but I know "me" when I see her.
I've changed a lot over the years. I still love to experiment with new me's, but in the end I know what suits me and what I'm comfortable wearing...... and THAT'S my true style.
